About the Grand Chief's Office
The Grand Chief shall have political authority as determined by the Board and/or the Executive Council. The Tribal Chief will derive his/her authority and mandate from resolutions passed by the Board and the Executive Council The Tribal Chief will be responsible for:
- Presiding at all meetings of the Board and the Executive Council. The Tribal Chief will be responsible for advocating the rights and interests of the Regular Members; the Regular members include: The elected Chiefs as representative of the following First Nations:
- Barren Lands First Nation;
- Fox Lake First Nation;
- God's Lake Narrows First Nation;
- Manto Sipi Cree Nation;
- Northlands First Nation;
- Oxford House First Nation;
- Sayisi Dene First Nation;
- Shamattawa First Nation;
- Split Lake Cree First Nation;
- War Lake First Nation;
- York Factory First Nation;
- Preparing regular polical reports to the Board and the Executive Council.
- Utilizing and directing Keewatin Tribal Council Inc, organization staff in accordance with mandates set by the Board and the Executive Council.
Term of Office: The term of office for the Tribal Chief shall be three years.
