The Grand Chief shall have political authority as determined by the Board and/or the Executive Council.  The Tribal Chief will derive his/her authority and mandate from resolutions passed by the Board and the Executive Council  The Tribal Chief will be responsible for:

• Presiding at all meetings of the Board and the Executive Council.  The Tribal Chief will be responsible for advocating the rights and interests of the Regular Members; the Regular members include: The elected Chiefs as representative of the following First Nations:
  • Barren Lands First Nation;
  • Fox Lake First Nation;
  • God's Lake Narrows First Nation;
  • Manto Sipi Cree Nation;
  • Northlands First Nation;
  • Oxford House First Nation;
  • Sayisi Dene First Nation;
  • Shamattawa First Nation;
  • Split Lake Cree First Nation;
  • War Lake First Nation;
  • York Factory First Nation;
• Preparing regular polical reports to the Board and the Executive Council.
• Utilizing and directing Keewatin Tribal Council Inc, organization staff in accordance with mandates set by the Board and the Executive Council.
