About Keewatin Housing Association

Keewatin Housing Association Inc. has approximately 67 rental units in Thompson with a 0% vacancy rate as of February 28/10.  Keewatin Tribal Council established Keewatin Housing Authority in 1983 when it purchased a building located at 24 Westwood Drive in Thompson, MB.  In the years following, Keewatin Tribal Council expanded its housing portfolio by creating a housing program under the new name Keewatin Housing Association Inc.  Keewatin Housing was incorporated on October 31, 1986 to set up a new housing program that eventually, purchased a total of 79 units on several phases in the last 24 years.

Mission Statement:

“The long term vision of Keewatin Housing Association is to provide affordable housing to Aboriginal people within the City of Thompson who have low to moderate income levels”.
“Keewatin Housing Association will also interact with tenants on a regular basis to ensure proper maintenance and care of the Urban Native Housing units and its properties are maintained”.

Mandate:

Keewatin Housing Association Inc.’s (K.H.A.I) objective is to provide housing that will improve the quality of life for Urban Native  (Treaty, Non-Status, Metis & Inuit) families who are in core need.
