Strengthening families - Maternal Child Health Home visiting program. Overarching vision: strong, healthy, supportive families that live holistice and balanced lifestyles. Program provides home visits to pregnant women and families with young children using Growing Kids Curriculum to foster positive parenting, infant bonding, support breastfeeding, child development, language development, safety and health family relationships.
The vision of the star program is to prevent prenatal alcohol and/or drugs exposure and thereby reduce the number of affected babies through effective relationships with mentors, families and community resources. Program approach: STAR utilizes a harm reduction model based on developing positive, supportive, mentoring relationships with women in their reproductive years and connecting the families to appropriate and effective resources.
