The Crisis Response Advisors will work collaboratively with the Tribal Council service team, community service providers, Provincial and Federal service providers to provide on site supports to community members affected by unforeseen tragedies.

The overall purpose of the National Aboriginal Youth Suicide Prevention Strategy (NAYSPS) is to improve the quality of life and access to culturally sensitive wellness services at the community level and help create healthy family and community environments for children and all First Nations community members.

Tobacco Reduction Coordinator, while using a population health promotion, self management principles, practices and community health development model, will assess, plan, implement and evaluate programs and services specific to the smoking prevention, reduction, protection and cessation. Creating multidisciplinary, collaborative relationships with health care professionals and other community agencies, organizations and groups.

National Native Alcohol Drug Addictions Program (NNADAP) is a community-based program providing prevention, intervention, follow up and after care services to the 11 KTC First Nations communities. Supporting First Nations communities to reduce the incidence of alcohol and substance abuse.

Brighter Futures/Building Health Communities. The overall purpose of Brighter Futures is to improve the quality of life, and access to culturally sensitive wellness services at the community level, and to help create healthy family and community environments for children and all First Nations community members. Building Healthy Communities is intended to support the development of specialized community-based Mental Health Treatment Services, Crisis Intervention services and Solvent Abuse prevention programming.

Training and workshops held in KTC communities on:

  • Quarterly/Conference/Training; we are currently working on quarterly for June 2023 for the following programs BF/BHC/CHR's/NNADAP/NAYSPS
  • The Mental Wellness team hosted Moose Hide Campaign partnering with MKO.
  • Currently provided some family violence workshops, shirt and skirt making, emergency and standard first aid courses, medicine picking and harvesting.
  • MWT attended unity in the work place training.
  • Helped with Orange Shirt Day events.
  • Harm reduction conference with KTC First Nations.

2 crisis response worker, 2 wellness workers, 1 BF/BHC, 1 NAYSPS,1 NNADAP

  • Each team member is part of the Crisis Response Team and assists the 2 Crisis Response Workers when needed. To help better meet the communities' needs, some staff have attended training/workshops on: Crisis response training/Thunderbird Partnership Foundation, Awakening the Presence, ASSIST First Aid, CTRI virtual trauma and grief, Anxiety workshop
  • Mental Wellness team support meetings weekly including IRS team.
  • Assist in the Joint Program Quarterly meetings for BF, BHC, NNADAP and NAYSPS.
